A Correspondent lately returned from Ceylon, Wiiting to the Pall Mall Gazettt! about the P ince of Wales' elephant, diawn by Mi 1 Stewart Cuuabiirland, which is minus a tail, says : — " It is not improbable that the mind of the Prince of Wales frequently revert* to the eleph.iut' he Hist shot in tlie jniijl'.s of Ceylon, antl few who'tccoinpained him are ever likely to forget the shout of delight with which he beheld the. huge auinial begin to stagger, to say nothing of the aiuusiug alacrity displayed in dockiug die poor I mite of his tail. No boy ever carried home his first hue with greater glee than the Prince carried his tail. In vaiu Lord diaries Beresford offered to relive his Royal hands ; the Prince positively refused to part with it till he reached, the carriage road, were the eonveyanjn awaited him. Carefully placing 1 1« trophy in the bottom of the carriage his Royal Highness assumed the reins; but th») horses, fidgety by long waiting, dislojally declined to answer the whip, and as a matter of fact, jibbed o»r future Ki"g and his paraphernalia into the ditch, from the depths of which a voice was soon hoard to exclaim, 1 Charlie ! Charlie !' — not , wha wadna follow thee !' but—' for 's take o.tre of my tail I* "
