' The main shaft has bet-n carried down a distance of 9ft since the contractors finished, and the remaining lift will be completed during the incoming week. The depth then attained will give 150 ft of backs, and with the known large make of stone between the two levels a long season of crushing U therefore provided. During
next week the work of excavating the chamber at the foot of the main shaft will be begun. The distance to drive to connect with the reef is only 85ft.
