WEALTH OF NATIONS.

A cross cut has been started from the foot of the winze to ascertain tbe the underlie of the reef, bnt it is not yet in far enough to meet the line. In the meantime the excavation of the chamber on the main level is being proceeded with preparatory to starting the main shaft. Good headway is being made with the work. Some hands have been put on to drive on the line of the reef on the north side of the main level, where a good track of reef is being followed with occasional boulders and loose masses of good gold bearing stone. It is highly probable that a good make of stone will before long be met with in this part of the mine.
