The Inangahua Times. PUBLISHED TRI-WEEKLY. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1885.

Holders of oustanding cheques, drawn by the Golden Treasure Company, are requested to give the numbers of the same to Mr G. B. Shepherd immediately. All accounts against the same Company must be handed to Mr Shepherd at once. The Hutt tarring and r feathering case is now assuming gigantic proportions. Our Wellington correspondent telegraphs that criminal proceedings are about to be commenced against two members of the Legislature whose names have not hitherto appeared in the case. Where the matter will end it is difficult to say. We desire to call the attention of our readers to Messrs Smith and Bark ley 'a advertisement, notifying the arrival of their New and Fashionable Spring goods. A meeting of cricketers was held at Campbell's Southern Cross Hotel on Saturday evening. The following officers were appointed, viz : Captain, Mr Lucas ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr Cooper. Messrs North, Pickering, and Blakley were appointed as members of committee. The subscription for town members was fixed at £1 and for country members at 10s. I* was decided that the committee should canvas the town for members, and, if a sufficient number join, the first match of the season will be played next Saturday. Sergeant Keating, who is being transferred from Boatman's to Kumar a, was eu',ertained at a banquet which was given him by his numerous friends at Archer's Royal Hotel, Boatman's, on Saturday evening last. It is a matter of general regret that the district should lose the services of such an efficient officer, who by his strict impartiality in fulfilling his duty, and by his other genial qualities, has won tho esteem and good will of all. The usual loyal and patriotic toasts were given and responded to, and a most enjoyable ■ocial evening was spent, all cordially wishing him God speed on breaking up. Host Archer deserves a meed of praise for the attractive repast which he provided at a very abort notice.
