The Minister of Justice to«r!»iy received a communication from the Nelson Justices stating they were still unable to form a rota until they received a reply from the Minister iv regard to their objection to the appointment of Mr Harley. Mr Tole has not yet decided what steps he will take in the matter.

Further details of young Hingston's death show that he was stung on the forehead twice by a bee, and in the
evening while talking with his friend Mr Lord he dropped down, and shortly afterwards expired. Dr Watling certified death was from blood poison ing through the sting of a bee. Christchurch 24. Wm. Ash, an employee of the Amnri Road Board, was drowned while attempting to cross the Waian here yesterday. The body is not yet recovered. Mr W. J. G. Bluet, the well known auctioneer and cattle breeder, at Leeston, and at one time M.H.R., died last night. Dunedin 24. In the squabble which took place on the Orari at the wharf on Saturday between some sailors, another who interfered was wounded on the fore- j head. As the wound is not serious, ! and his assailant was drunk, he was let off with a fine. Mrs Gordon, wife of the postmaster at North Taieri, by stepping off the wrong side of a train at Mosgiel fell and the train passed over both hands, which will necessitate the amputation of at lea3t one arm.
