The Porte has forwarded a circular note to the Great Powers intimating that if they do not interfere in order to restore peace in Bulgaria Turkish troops will attack the invaders. The Sultan has issued orders commanding tho Turkish forces to assemble forthwith upon the frontier, and Las forwarded a despatch to Kii.g Milan snmmoning him to evacuate Bulgaria.
Sofia, 28.
The Bulgarian forces under Prince Alexander fought a battle ou Sunday and succeeded in expelling the Servians from the heights in the vicinity of Dragoman Pass. The Bulgarians now ocjupy the whole of the enemy's positions in that neighborhood.

Further details in regard to the sufe return of the Australasian Geographical Society's expedition state that after ascending the Fly lltver as far as it was possible to do in the, Bonito they took to the whaleboat and proceeded some 80 miles up the stream. Here they encountered a numerous body of natives whom they describe as a. fine race, although exceedingly shy and hostile to strangers. < apt Everill states he foand it impossible to hold any friendly communication with them, and the jungle was so dense that he had to return without being able to penetrate any distance into the interior of the country.

Messrs Johnson's fonndary was destroyed by fire on Saturday. Insmed in the Colonial Mutual fire office The damage was fully covered by insurance.
The papers for the extradition of Bland, charged vith embezzlement by Messrs Stewart, Dawson and Co, Dunedin, have been received by the authorities here, and prisoner was forwarded to Dunediu by Tarawera on Saturday.

The cable steamer Sherard Osbornc successfully accomplished the work of laying the duplicate cable between Victoria aud Tasmania.
