REUNION.
The Bible class connected with St Andrews Presbyterian church, Queenstown, brought its session to a close by entertaining the congregation with a social and concert last evening in the church, which, although brief notice had been given, was well filled. The proceedings went off very smoothly and were very enjovahle throughout. An abundance of choice" and substantial refreshments handed fOund daring the interval were equally well appreciated. The concert programme was arranged by Mr A. Boyne junr. leader of the choir, and some of the items, especially those songs given by Miss Stevenson, a Dunedin lady, were a musical treat in themselves. The following was the order of thi proceedings : Chorus, "Come unto Me," choir. The pastor, Mr Blair delivered an interesting address. Re stated that the class had opened on the 17th March with 11 members. It had soon increased, and at some meetings as many as 25 had been present, but the average was about 17. The work done comprised Psalms, I-VI; and Luke, I-VIII. inclusive, and the date, authorship, historical surroundings, object of the writings, and sources of information available to authors had been dealt with. All difficulties had been fairly faced, and the difference in detail in the accounts given by the rariout writers had received due consideration. At the end of the session an examination had been held and the prize won by Miss M. M'Alister. The result of the session's work was a better understanding of the Gospel and and a much more real conception of Christ as the God man. Song, " He wipes the tear from every eye" Miss Walker; Quartet"Home, Light Home," Misses Mitcherlich and Reid and Messrs Boyne and P. Gardiner ; song " Holy City," Mrs Stevenson ; recitation, "Is there room for the children there," Rev. R. Blair; song, " Rocked in the cradle of the deep," Mr P. Gardiner ; chorus, " Joybells," choir. Interval and refreshments, after which the balance sheet was read by Mr Geisow, hon treasurer, who enlivened a usually dry subject by humorous remarks. He explained the sustentation and local funds—the first being apportioned for stipend by the Synod and the latter to supplement any deficiency. He was happy to state that their financial affairs were in a sound position, and that, at last, the community as a whole, had secured the services of a very good minister. Prixe presented to Miss M'Alister. Chorus, " Hear the Angels," choir; song, " Home sweet Home," Mrs Stevenson ; duet " Tired," Misses Boyne and Walker ; recitation "Spanish Champion," Mr Griffiths; quartet, " Unseen City," Misses Walker and Boyne and Messrs Boyne and Griffiths ; song '•The Last Muster," Mr A. Boyne, junr.; song, " Better Land " Mrs Stevenson. On the motiom of Mr A. Boyne, sen.j a vote of thanks to the choir and others who had assisted at the affair was carried by acclamation. A most enjoyable reunion was then brought to a close by the choir singing " God be with you."
