Mr R. Stevenson has been appointed a trustee of the Skippers Point Cemetery Board. Messrs O'Meara and Co. announce an extensive sale to-morrow, at the Town Hall, of household furniture, etc., and on Wednesday, at their office, of Education reserves. An occasional Macetown correspondent writes, under date, 19th inst nit:—l am very sorry to record the demise, at the early age of 29 years, of one of our most prominent native Macetonians—Thomas Pattou (the only son of Charles Patton, one of the oldest residents and pioneers of the district). Deceased was educated here, and even during his school days showed a quick and comprehensive appreciation of the elements of mechanics and general science, but, after leaving school, he showed a predilection for mining, and after a time, beiug fairly successful in that avocation, he determined (at least for the present) to devote, his time and abilities to that pursuit. Unfortunately a severe cold, brought on by developing, a wet claim, introduced an affection of the lungs, which, after a year's fluctuations, although under the careful and watchful supervision of the cleverest medical practitioners—localandDunedin—terminated in his death on the morning of the 16th instant. If watchful attendance, careful nursing, by a devoted wife a loving father and mother and the kindness of hosts of relatives and friends could have been of any avail, he would have been with us yet, but it was not to be. The funeral, which took place on Sunday the 18th iust. was attended by nearly the whole of the male population of Macetown, together with several female relatives, and also friends from Arrowtown.—the whole forming a procession, that has not been teen previously on the Arrow and Macetown road. Dr W. B. Rush, Oakland, Fla., writes : " I employ Sander and Sons Pure Volatile Eucalypti Extract as a local application in chronic inflammations and rheumatic pains ; internally in nephritio as well as in pulmonary, gastric and vesical catarrh. It is sometimes difficult to obtain the genuine article. I employed different other preparations ; they had no therapeutic value and no effects. In one case the effects were similar to the oil camphora, the objectionable action of which is well known."—This is certainly a most striking evidence of the superiority of this excellent preparation over any other. Insist on getting Sander and Sons Eucalypti Extract, or else you will be supplied with worthless oils.
