Talking to a gentleman who lias had considerable experience of the cotton trade, a representative of the Southland Times obtained some information in regard to the prises of sow* ing cotton in the Dominion. He was informed that the wholesale agents in New Zealand sold what, was known as Clark's G/200 cotton at 22/6 per gross in July, 1911' less 7 1-2 per cent, discount, and a further reduction of 3$ per.eent for cash. This month the priee to the retail trade for the same line ltad risen to 78/- a gross, which was reduced by the discounts to 69/6 per gross, or something under 6d per lie il.
