THE CONCERT TONIGHT.

. » It is hardly necessar- to remind our readers that the Church of England concert takes place at the Foxton Hall thi* ev«nin>>, commencing at 8 o'clock. The pro. gramrre, which is published in another column, shows that the Committee have succeeded in preparing a substantial " hill of fare." No less than seven new perfoi mers will take part in the entertainment, and most of the items are quite new to Foxton audiences, the others being old favourites. The programme has been arranged so as to give as much diversity as possible, and although the songs predominate unduly, the recitations and piano selections will form a pleasing variety. With referencce to tne recitations, we would call special attentipn to Mr Hulke's promised rendition of Sullivan's now celebrated speech on behalf of the Irish Land Leaguers. Having heard Mr Hulke rohearse the oration, or rather that part he will recite, we are able to protnise a great treat to all who hear it. There is one matter we are requested to call at- ' tention to. The programme is a long one, j and consequently the concert will start punctually at 8 o'clock. Visitors should, however, be in their seats five minutes be. fore that hour, as the Committee hay« determined to close the door while the

overture to each part is being played, i This course haa been adopted, owing to tho i anuoyauc? cause I to both pianist aud auUencs by tha stamping of feet during the i overture. A word to tho wise is sufficient
