A MOTHER PROTEST.

The Mayor has promised to see Mr Stewart, Resident Engineer, about the removal of that dangerous obstruction m the middle ot what is now a public at the rear of the post office, about which so many complaints have been already made, and which; has nearly caused several serious 1 accidents. It is quiie unaccountable why the Public Works Department has allowed such an obvious source of danger, especially to travellers at night, to remain so long. Were it painted or lighted, it would not be so bad, but to allow it to remain as at present is little short of culpable negligence or wilful disregard of what affects the public safety.
