At the present time a cfig-antic railrailroad project is contemplated m Llus.sia, and tho Czar takes the liveliest interest m tbe matter. In view of the immense benefit accruing to agriculture an.d commerce through the completion of tin* net work of railroads m the United States, the Russian Government, and capitalists have been encouraged to undertake a similar work for thiur large country. The project is nothing, less than a Russian Pacific Railroad. The road m length will aggregate 11,700 English miles and thu cost is estimated at 1,000,000,000 rubles. It is judged that this stupendous work will take twenty years to complete. It is proposed that during times of peace the >oldiers of the empire shall be employed m the construction of the road. The Czar has decided to appoint a commission for the purpose of investigating 1 the project
