Th^ business appointed for this occasion was the reading of an original ess*v by Mr H. Daniel on New Zealand", its papt; its prerent7*aTi-dtes"futuver"The essay proved very interbsting, ?bein», listened to with attention, and elici °- : ing afterwards an animated discussion on the part of the" members. "Tltr historical part of the subject having been duly cuticised, the question of the future of New Zealand, as growing out of the politics and natural resources of th e country was the principal theme discussed. That possible condition of the future^ Colonial Federation, its probability and desirability, as forming part of the subject matter of the essay was also freely discussed. -; An address by the President, the Rev. R. S. Bnnn, m review ' of the essay and debate concluded a reuy interesting eveuing's work.
