Mr J, Matthews, of ttehen Ferry, the foster-father of Richard Parker, the victim of the Mignonette disaster, has been m London with reference to an offer to erect a memorial to the '• tnemory of • the deceased. Ha was accompanied by William Parker, « Dick's Brother," and Mr V. Tho'ibpsbn, arid it was decided to j ac"eepli a' headstone and fooi&tone, which \»y the consent of the yicar will be placed iii l^ear Tve,e-greeri churchyard.; The inscription "greed upon will notify the name and age of the deceased, 1 and will s^tethat hc L died at sea on July 25,1884, after nineteen . days of terrible sufferings 'in an open;' boat m the tropics, after being wreckedJiUbe^ignonette.
