FARMERS’ UNION.
MANAWATU EXECUTIVE. The monthly meeting of the Alanawatu executive of tho New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held this morning, Air 0. P. Lynch presiding. Others present were: Alessrs J. Balsillie, F. Alaul, H. Bond, J. Gloyn, T. D. Clifford, B. G. Gower and W. Gloyn. A suggestion from the Te Horo branch that meetings of tho executive be held in places other than Palmerston North was held over until the annual meeting. RURAL CREDITS. The Dominion executive wrote suggesting that committees should be set up throughout the district to carry on the agitation for legislation embodying the recommendations made by the Rural Credits Commission. The chairman commented that the Rural Credits Bill, as passed, was not satisfactory to the union, which wanted the whole of the recommendations given effect to, with the exception that the agricultural bank be not a bank of issue. After further brief discussion, it was decided that the executive be a committee to go into the matter. DAYLIGHT SAVING. A request that steps be taken to strenuously oppose daylight saving was received from the Dominion executive, which suggested that, as the bill would for certain be again introduced next session, the executive place its views in no uncertain method before the district members of Pa-rliament. Alessrs Gloyn and Bond both objected to farmers having to get up earlier in the morning. It was decided to accede to the request and to ask the various branches to extend their support also.
