FREEZING INDUSTRY.

POSITION AT FEILDING. CALL FOR SLAUGHTERMEN ON MONDAY. [Special to “Standard.”] FEILDING, Dec. 4. It is evident, from inquiries made this morning at the Feilding freezing works that the management is not going to temporise in the slightest degree with any conditions or restrictions that may be laid down by the striking slaughtermen. The secretary, Air V. J. Stitchbury, informed a “Standard” reporter that a call would .be issued on Monday morning for six of the old butchers and, failing their immediate [ response, voluntary men would be put on immediately and, what is more, kept on. Tile men will be required to work under exactly the same conditions as the voluntary -men are doing. Other than the six butchers required no other positions are open to the absentee unionists, Air Stitchbury said, all the labourers’’ positions having been filled by the voluntary men who are giving tho greatest satisfaction to the management and are still offering in any quantity. Lambs are coming forward now very freely and the company expects operations to be in full swing shortly. UNIONISTS NOT WORKING AT lAILAY. (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, Dec. 3. Members of the Butchers’ Union did -not start at the Imlay AVorks to-day, but it is understood that some of them will b© operating on the boards on Monday.
