LEAGUE FOOTBALL
RUGBY CLUBS JOINING. THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. >r " ■ -?• GREAT IMPROVEMENT SHOWN. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 4, 8.55. a.m. LONDON, Dec. 3. Welsh Rugby Union Clubs are likely to turn professional and to form a Welsh League affiliated with the Northern Union. This will be inaugurated in the autumn according to the Daily News. Although the names of the players have not yet been disclosed, grounds have already been engaged. The New Zealand League team s “international” match against Wales to-morrow is oxpected to greatly assist the Northern Union’s propaganda for the development of the League game. The New Zealanders have shown such remarkable improvement since peace was proclaimed in their camp that they have an excellent chance of winning. The Rugby League’s hush hush policy, regarding the views expressed in official Australian and New Zealand letters concerning the two. years’ qualification rule is distinctly regrettable. Whatever the Dominions think, the League clubs here will press for the removal of the ban. The Wigan Club has already called "a general meeting of the clubs to consider the matter. — Sydney Sun cable. NEW ZEALAND TEAM TO PLAY WALES. LONDON, Doc. 2. The New Zealand League team against Wales on Saturday at Pontyprid will be: Gregory, Brown, Davidson, Desmond, Brisbane, Delgrosso, Henry, Devine, Mason, Mount. Wright and Thomas.—A. and N.Z. cable.
