HABITUAL CRIMINAL AT LARGE.

Samuel Arthur Pudney, aged 30, an habitual criminal, serving two years’ gaol, daringly escaped from Mt. Eden at 7.30 last evening. He made an excuse to visit the quarry and, seizing a favourable opportunity, dashed through an open gate, which he slammed. in the face of pursuing warders. This slight advantage enabled Pudney to get away under the cover of darkness despite a vigilant search. Ho is still at large.
