ITALY AND ALBANIA.
NEW TREATY CONCLUDED
SERBIAN PRESS ALARMED
Received December 26, 9.20 a.m. BELGRADE, Dec. 5,
The press is alarmed by the ItaloAlbaniair treaty as threatening Albanian and Jugo-Slavian independence and ensuring the Italian domination of the Balkans and the Adriatic.—A. and N.Z. cable.
The London Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent says that importance is attached to a new treaty concluded by Ifaly and Albania whereby Italy becomes the lawful guarantor of the political independence and territorial integrity of Albania against any aggressor. Although ip accordance with the Locarno precedent the pact is concluded on the basis of a reciprocity treaty, it is recognised in diplomatic circles as a notable success for Italian diplomacy though it may not please all Albania’s neighbours.
