TOLL OF THE AIR.
FIGURES FOR 1926. LONDON, Nov. 24. Remarkable figures concerning fatalities in the Royal Air Force were given by the Secretary for Air, Sir Samuel Hoare, replying to a uestion in the House of Commons to-day. There were 49 fatal accidents in 1926, as against 36 in 1925; and this year there had been 80 deaths, as against 50 last year, he said. Aircraft written off as the result of crashes numbered 230 this year, as against 212 in 1925. The amount of flying in 1926 was materially in excess of that in 1925, but the methods of
training, the endeavours made to evolve more controllable craft, more safety devices and parachutes, had already saved many lives.
