LIFE SAVING.

MEETING OF SUB-CENTRE. A meeting of tho Manawatu SubCentre of the Royal Life-Saving Society was held last night, Mr \V. G. Collier presiding. A letter was received, from Mr Jas. Wallace accepting office as an annual governor and enclosing a cheque ior ill Is.—Received.

Miss A. E. Rowe, of Rongotea, wrote offering her services as a teacher of life-saving in a town school. —Tho letter was received, the secretary being instructed to forward a letter of thanks to Miss Rowe for her kind offer.

The chairman suggested that help be given to the Hokowhitu School Committee in its endeavours to provide swimming baths for the school, and the secretary was instructed to write to the committee offering the services of members. It was decided that certificates won by children during the past year be presented publicly by tho chairman at an early date. The following school children will receive elementary certificates ;—College Street: Raymond Olsen, George Watt, Patricia Edwards, Gwendolyn Boyd, Terrace End: James Erenstrom, Maurice Robinson, Jean Turner. Jean Lawson.

On the motion of Mr Schwartz, it was resolved to approach the Rotary and Lunch Clubs with a view to obtaining their support of the society’s aims.
