South Australia won by two wickets and three runs, V. Richardson’s splendid innings paving the way to victory. The weather was fine and the wicket still good. The Soutli Australians fought hard to win, and in tho first few overs batted carefully. Then V. Richardson and Rymill commenced to open out, but a little later Rymill was caught. With only tho tail left Richardson tightened his defence, as only 44 runs were required, and the scoring slow'ed down. After Richardson went out the scoring became still slower, the last three winning runs taking ten minutes. —Press Association. QUEENSLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, Dec. 8. In the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and New South Wales, Queensland had made 323 for six wickets (L. Oxcnham 60, Thompson 43, O’Connor 103, Rowe 35 not out) when stumps were drawn. The match was continued in ideal weather on a good wicket, but the batting of the visiors was very dreary. They played dogged cricket, defying the attack and scoring mainly by singles. The batsmen, refusing to take risks, scored only off loose ones. Oxenham took over three hours to compile his score. When Thompson appeared the scoring rate livened up, but after lie was dismissed it dropped back, most of the balls being blocked. All changes in the bowling failed to tempt the visitors to take chances. —Press Association.
New South Wales’s first innings score was 287.
