FREE PASSAGES.
FOR MIGRATING SERVANTS.
AUSTRALIA’S DECISION. Received December 9, 9.50 a.m. MELBOURNE, Dec. 9. Mr W. C- Stillman, of the Commonwealth Immigration Department, stated that in future free passages will be offered to migrating domestics, this being done so that Australia will not be placed at a disadvantage compared with New Zealand. Previously, domestics paid £ll, the remainder of the fare being borne equally by the Commonwealth and the British Governments. These Governments will now bear the whole cost.—A. and N.Z. cable.
