FATAL QUARREL
MILLIONAIRE’S CRIMES. TWO PERSONS SHOT DEAD. ASSAILANT COMMITS SUICIDE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 9, 9.35 a.m. PARIS, Dec. 8. William H. Payne, aged GO-, reputedly an American millionaire, occupying with his paralysed wife a luxurious flat in the Champs Elysees, was checking accounts with his wife and tire housekeeper, Adrienne Henry, when a dispute arose. Mr Payne rushed to a drawer, seized a revolver and slightly wounded Mdlle. Henry, who ran screaming to the kitchen. Mr Payne followed firing four shots and killing her. He returned to the sitting-room and fatally shot his wife. He then locked himself in a bedroom and committed suicide with a revolver.
Mr and Mrs Payne recently made a world tour, from which the husband returned suffering from melancholia —Sydney Sun cable.
