TANGLED SKEINS.
STAGE DIVORCE SUIT. London, Dec. 1. Eric lon Swinley, a prominent Shakespearean actor, who cited another actor, Franklyn Dyall as corespondent, was granted a divorce today from his wife, whose stage name is Alary Merrall. Swinley gave evidence that he had vainly attempted to get back his wife after his return from the war, which had affected his health. A lady then took care of him while he was acting at the Savoy Theatre, and he lived with her for two years. She subsequently was happily married and ho now was anxious to marry another. Some time ago Airs Swinley was granted a divorce but the decree was rescinded in April last on the intervention of the King’s Proctor, who pointed out that the case had .been heard at Norwich to avoid publicity. Thp petitioner had not mentioned her association with the stage, and had described her husband by the one Christian name of Eric, whereas he was widely known as lon Swinley. Further, she had concealed the fact that for six years previously she had been living with Dyall.
