Those who attended the first concert given by the Ist Palmerston North Company of Girl Guides and the Ist Palmerston North Brownie Pack last year were so favourably impressed that they are sure to witness the second concert which will be given to-night in the Empire Hall. The programme is well assorted with plays, dances, demonstrations, songs, recitations and chorus. The guide play, “Pandora,” is a delightful little play in one act. It is prettily staged and through it runs the morals on which the whole Girl Guiding is built. The Brownie play, “The Lost Brown Owl,” is in three short acts. The little ones are to be seen to great advantage in this playlet and again the morals of the Brownies are brought out very cleverly. The introduction of old English dances in old-time costumes is a noval feature of the concert and the girls perform with very great credit. Solo dances are also in the list of performances. The badge demonstration is truly wonderful and an eye-opener to those who do not understand what Girl Guiding really stands for. It is a revolation of what these girls are taught and what an excellent movement Girl Guiding is. The training to be loyal to God and the King and to be good and useful citizens is displayed to great advantage this most excellent demonstration. The programme closes with the happy throng singing their Guide choruses round the camp fire. *=»
