A letter was received from the Kairanga County Council informing the council of the Magistrate’s decision in reference to tho allocation of heavy traffic license fees. —The Mayor remarked that the boroughs would have liked more but they were satisfied with tho decision as it was for there was no doubt that they would come out better than last year. From Hon. R. Wright, Minister of Education, stating that an officer of the department would visit Feilding shortly to make arrangements in regard to a dental clinic. —Received. From the local branch of the suggesting that tho council fill in depressions in the paddocks at tho abattoirs to stop water lying about and so breeding mosquitoes which are troublesome to stock. —This letter evoked considerable merriment and the Mayor remarked that the society was overstepping its duties. The stock did not belong to tho council and the paddocks were held on lease by certain butchers, on which account Mr Carthew did not think anything could be done. —On the motion of Cr Pryde it was decided to inform the society that the council was in entire sympathy with it but could do nothing in the matter. From the Feilding Pipe Band asking for a donation toward tho cost of their band instruments. —It was decided to hold the matter over until the estimates for the next financial year are being considered. From tho same asking for permission to hold a street stall.—The question of the location of the stall was then discussed, it being said by councillor* that it was unfair to have the stalls in the one place all the time and that several ratepayers had objected.
