Tho Feilding Amateur Athletic Association conducted its second meeting in Kowhai Park on Wednesday, evening, there being a good attendance of supporters. Following are tho detailed results: - 120 yards senior handicap. —Ist heat: A. Hitchens (12yds) 1, A.Pearse (7) 2, D. Salter (12) 3; time, 12 2-5 secs. 2nd heat: H. Hanley (12) 1, J. Rosoman (Si) 2, R Sowerby (15) 3, time, 12 1-5 secs. Final: H. Hanley (12) 1, J. Rosoman (8$) 2, A. Hitchens (12) 3; time, 12 1-5 secs. •1000 yards handicap.—C. Kerridge (30) 1, T. Kelly (50) 2, F. Poole (85) 3; time, 2min. 27 2-5 secs. 120 yards school boys handicap.— Ist heat: R. Kitchen 1, T. Silcock 2, B. Edelsten 3; time, 16 1-5 secs. 2nd heat: Buxtin 1, P. OPENING OF OROUA CROQUET

CLUB

The Oroua Croquet Club’s green was opened yesterday afternoon before a large attendance of ladies and viisitors from other clubs including Waimaire (Lower Hutt) , Kimbolton, Terrace End and Manawatu, and representatives of all the local clubs. Mr E. Goodbehere, president of tho Oroua Bowling Club, which is incorporated with the Croquet Club, declared No. 1 green open with an appropriate speech, after which he invited the president of tho Croquet Club (Mr W. T. Oakley) to put the ball through the first hoop, which was duly accomplished amidst applaus.e. Play was then indulged in for the rest of the afternoon and during the games a dainty afternoon tea was served by the willing committee. The club has two greens at its disposal, although only one was ready yesterday afternoon, and a membership of 41 with many more desirous of joining. The grounds are picturesquely laid out and visitors yesterday were loud in their admiration of tho beautiful surroundings of both the bowling and croquet greens.
