CLAIM FAILS.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 9. A claim for £IOOO compensation by Jessie White Hahn, widow, against the Fletcher Construction Company, on the ground that her husband, Theodore Hahn, had died as the result of tetanus contracted through a scratch on tho hand by a rusty nail while employed by the company, was disallowed by the Arbitration Court to-day. Mr Justice Blair said that it had to be proved that the scratch on deceased’s hand had caused tetanus and that it was received in. the course of deceased’s employment. Although the doctors had stated that an old leg injury was unlikely to causo tetanus, they did not exclude the possibility that it might have done'so. In view of that it had not been established that the scratch on the hand had caused tetanus. . • , „ . , Judgment was given for defendant company with costs £lO 10s, witness’s expenses, and disbursements.
