PROPOSED ELECTRIFICATION. (British Official Wireless.” RUGBY, Sept. 9. Tho possibility of the electrification of tho main line railway systems of Great Britain is foreshadowed by the following announcement made\ by the Minister of Transport:— “The Government has had under consideration the advisability of obtaining a report upon the problem of electrification of the main line railway systems. A committee has accordingly been appointed, consisting of Lord Weir of Eastwood (chairman), Sir Ralph Wedgwood and Sir William McLintock, with the - following terms of reference:—ln view of tho progress which is being made toward tile widespread availability of high-tension electrical energy, to examine into the economic and other aspects of electrification of the railway systems of Great Britain, with particular reference to main line working, and to report their conclusions.” Lord Weir is a well-known engineer; Sir Ralph Wedgwood is general manager of the London and North-East-ern Railway; and Sir William McLiiitock, who has advised the Government on many matters, was appointed by the Ministry of Transport to bo auditor of the Central Electricity Board.
