MYSTERY SHIP.
VISITS TO AUSTRALIAN COAST. - SYDNEY, Sept. 9. Mrs MacCormick, a missionary at Mapoon, on the Gulf of Carpentaria, reached Sydney to-day. In an interview Mrs MacCormick expressed 6urprice that the Federal Government liad not cleared up the mystery of a strange ship that makes periodical appearances on the North Australian coast. There were various rumours current as to the ship’s purpose, which generally was regarded as nefarious. Once, tho sloop Geranium searched the coast and reported that she had sighted an unknown craft, which escaped. Later the Protector of the Aborigines at Thursday Island investigated and discovered nothing except the grave of a Malayan not long buried.
