GOLF NOTES
(Special to “Standard.”) I’EILDING, Sept. 10. The following members of the Feilding Golf Club have had their handicaps reduced: —L. Carmine to 6 —B; J. Graham to 6—B; S. A. Parkes to 10 —13; G. Pettigrew to 12 —16; A. Drew to 15—20; J. Foster to 15—20, and R. L. Harding to 15 —20. Progress details of the various competitions are .as follow: —Long and short handicap: In the second round Gorton and R. Harding beat Parkes and Short. Gonville Saunders Cup: In the first round, Phillips beat Hassall; McEwen forfeited to A. Sandford. Second round: R. Burrell beat Hall. President’s knock-out handicap : —First round: Sayvell beat Burton. Stitchbury forfeited to Tingey, Carmine beat E. fcnrrell, Maguire beat Fawcett, Giesen teat St. Paul Foster beat Parkes, Mason beat Phillips, A. Pryde forfeited to Pearson. Second round: Pettigrew boat Little, Harding beat Hassull, Seifert beat McCorkindale, Drew beat Sutton, Hanger beat Carthew, Dixon beat L. Standford. FIRE BRIGADE. Inspector Hugo, Dominion inspector of fire brigades, reports that the local brigade holds a good record, SI per cent of the strength of the unit turning out to nine general alarms. At an inspection muster drill was carried out in a satisfactory manner, while the equipment and station organisation were found to be in good order and condition. LADIES’ HOCKEY. The following team will represent Feilding against Palmerston North at Palmerston North for the Harper Cup to-morrow: —Goal, N. Scott; backs, D. Pengelly, N. Bourke; halves, B. Bridge, R. Linklater B. Managh; forwards, R. Dixon. E. Worsfold. M. McKelvie, F. Waterworth, B. Dewe, Emergency, R. McKelvie.
