RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). RONGOTEA, Sept. 12. The local 6chool commenced the third term on Tuesday, 10th inst., with a roll number of 115, and an attendance of 105. The spell of sickness, which reduced the attendance considerably before the holidays, has completely broken, and with the advent of warmer weather it is to bo hoped that the attendance will be well maintained, until the end of the year. Mr Kenneth Roes, M.A., who is conducting a sociological survey of the Mana-watu-Rangitikei district, paid a visit to the school on Wednesday last. Miss G. D. Havey, who has been visitnig Wellington, and Miss D. Lo Coutier, who has been visiting Utuwai, have resumed their duties at the local school this week. On Thursday evening the Social Club held its usual weekly euchre tournament in the Masonio Hall, there boing a large attendanc of players present. Prizes were won by tho following:—Ladies, Miss Hazel Morris; consolation, Mrs W. Boswell; gentlemen, Mr W. J. Amies; consolation, Mr J. Mearns.
