ENTERTAINMENTS.

“SHOW BOAT.” For the first time in history an elaborate combination of a stage production and a motion picture has been made. It is “Show Boat,” the Universal talking picture coming to the Palace Theatre on Saturday next. It combines a super screen production of the noted Edna Ferber novel with the highlights of Florenz Ziegfeld’s musical extravaganza based on the same story. Laura La Plante, Joseph Schildraut, Otis Harlan and other screen favourites make up the cast, while the Ziegfeld numbers are introdueerd via Movietone by Helen Morgan, Jules Bledsoe and other Ziegfeld stars. It makes a new era in entertainment.
