The local factory is now making casein instead of cheese. So far as this district is concerned, the manufacture of casoin is an innovation. As to whether it will bo more profitable than cheese is, of course, yet uncertain. The factory hands have now to rise very much earlier, but the day’s work is finished correspondingly earlier. The following local school children re- ' ceived their swimming certificates on Thursday:—Joyce Morley, Barbara Parker, Donald Parker, Hugh Danfrey, Selwyn Rowland, Nellie Fletcher, Iris . Morley and Vera Jeffrey. Friends of Mr and Mrs H. J. P. Parker j will be sorry to hear that their daughter Barbara is at present in hospital, having been operated on for appendicitis. The “Standard’s” correspondent, together with many others, trusts that she will make a speedy recovery. Mrs N. P. Nielsen, who has been confined to bed, is reported to be progressing favourably.
