HOPE AT LAST. WORKING TOWARD AGREEAIENT. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.—-United Service.) Received September 13, 1.20 p.m. "WASHINGTON, Sept. 12.. Colonel Stimson’s comment that Hr Ramsay AlacDonald was hopeful of a naval agreement was in response to inquiries concerning the announcement from London that All- AlacDonald would sail for tho United States on September 28. This meant that “we are at last hopeful of an agreement. The note last night was not of such a nature that you could say it had brought about an agreement, but it was working toward an agreement and could have caused Mr AlacDonald to be confident that there would be one.” Mr Cotton, the Under-Secretary for Naval Affairs, stated that the London announcement meant that the nations were near enough to agreement to have the Premier make tho visit. DATE OF SAILING. (Australian Press Association.—United Service.) ‘ Received September 13, 1.0 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 12. It is stated that Air Ramsay AlacDonald is going to America on September 28. It is now understood that the margin of difference between Britain and America is so small that there is every prospect of a settlement.
