(From Our Own Correspondent). C.OLYTON, Sept. 13. On Thursday last, Mrs R. W. Brown gavo a most onjoyablo “gift" afternoon at her home, “Glengarnock,” Colyton, for Miss Fanny Billet whoso marriage takes place shortly. Tho largo sunny drawing room in which tho many guests wore received was gay with bowls of beautiful spring flowers, which also decorated the dining room, in which a very dainty afternoon tea was served. Mrs Brown received her guests wealing a gown of saxo bluo georgette, while Miss Billet chose a pretty frock of rosewood marocain. Miss Marjorie Brown gave two charming solos, “Tho Second Minuot” and “Serenade,” and “Tho Littlo Irish Girl”, was rendered by Mrs Bruce McLeod, while tho guests also greatly appreciated Miss Ahvyno Rice’s two monologues, “Naughty Words” and “Heaps of Lickens’, ” Two interesting compositions caused much amusement, the first being won by Mrs Wilson, with Mrs W.. Stewart carrying off tho consolation prize; and tho second being won by Miss Wylie, tho consolation prize being awarded to Mrs Roulston. Tho guest of honour was then mado tho recipient of many interesting looking parcels, which on being, freed from their wrappings revealed some very beautiful and useful gifts. Miss Billet mado a happy speech, thanking all for their good wishes and gifts, and the hostess for a very pleasant afternoon spent. PERSONAL. Miss McKenzie, matron of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, who, accompanied by her sister, has been visiting Mrs R. W. Brown, “Glengarnock,” Colyton, returned to Palmerston North yesterday.. Miss Alwyne Rice, of Wanganui, is the guest of Miss Majoric Brown. Mrs Pcddio with tho Misses and Mr Jim Peddio, who have been the guests of Mrs F. J. Neill, whilo on a motor tour from Hastings, returned homo yesterday.
