DOWN THE LINE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Sept. 14. Miss Eileen Burke, a pupil of the Otaki Convent, headed the list at the musical examination at Wellington. Among the visitors at Otaki Beach are Mr McCully and Mr Cameron, of Marton. Both are enjoying outings on Otaki’s fine golf course. The death occurred at Pahiatua on Wednesday of Mr Gerald Champoin Millar, father to Miss Millar, of Otaki, aged 69 years. A “gift evening” was tendered to Miss Ethel Nelson, who is shortly to be married, by a number of friends on Wednesday night. During the evening Miss Nelson received many useful presents, and thanks on her behalf were returned by Mr Wilkie Watts. Rev. H. Spencer spoke very highly of Miss Nelson and wished her every success. During the evening musical items were rendered by Miss Windley, a song by Mrs Fiebjg,. and elocutionary, items by Misses Spencer and Wills,
