THEFT ADMITTED.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. Eight charges of theft of goods, including tools, overcoats, clocks and other articles, of a total value of £l9 11s, were admitted in the Magistrate’s Court by a labourer, Matthew Victor Jones. Accused stated that he had committed the offences because he was hard up. Two offences had been committed at churches while services were iff progress. “On several occasions I could have taken more than I did, but I only took enough to keep me going,” said accused from the dock. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent.
