CHARGE OF ASSAULT.

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Sept, 16. Charged with assaulting his wife and causing her bodily harm, Alexander Smith was remanded this morning until Wednesday. The police stated that it was alleged that accused went home in an intoxicated condition and struck her on the head with a beer bottle. The full extent of the injuries was not known. Accused was released on bail on a doctor’s statement that he should hare treatment at a hospital for a lacerated shoulder.
