WINTER SHIELD. On Wednesday the Wanganui hockey representatives will play Manpwatu at Palmerston North for the Winter Shield, at present held by the local association. < The challenging team will be as follows:—Goal: N. Hughes; backs, Goring, Lc Brun; halves, Pitmithly. Mclntyre, Harkness; forwards, Mason, Connell, Voss, Tizard, R. Hughes. Reserves: Adams, Bevan.
SCHOOLBOYS’ MATCH. MANAWATU BEATEN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. Hockey matches played to-day resulted : N.Z. Y.M.C.A. Challenge Shield.— Wellington 3 v. Masterton (challengers) 1. Primary schools representative match.—Wellington A 6, beat Manawatu A 5, thus retaining tho Cliffo Shield. Wellington B 8 v. Manawatu B 1. DRAWN GAME AT INVERCARGILL. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 14. A hockey match final was played here this afternoon between Otago and Southland ladies’ teams and resulted : Otago 3, Southland 3. Auckland.-p’Varsity 3 v. Somerville 3.
