BAY OF WHALES.
PREPARING FOR TRAIL. (By Russell Owen, copyright 1928 by the New York Times Company and the St. Louis Post Dispatch; all tights for publication reserved throughout the world. Wireless to the Now York Times.) Received September 14, 9.10 a.m. BAY OF WALES, Sept. 13. There has been brilliant sunshine with 60 below zero during tho last few days. The two large houses have been crowded with men getting ready for the trail—making charts, overhauling tents, repairing sleeping bags and footgear—and in the mess hall the dog harness, trail stores and radio sets are being got ready for the summer work. There is no room for a quiet discussion from early morning until dinner time, and no escape from the din of manufacture and bantering which accompany all efforts.
