RECORD TOURNAMENT AT GISBORNE.

TAKINGS EXCEED £6OO,

Justification of the Ladies’ Hockey Association’s decision to hold this year’s tournament at Gisborne is found in the financial results, comments an exchange. The total receipts were £620, compared with the previous record of £379, also at Gisborne in 1920. Last vear at Timaru the receipts totalled" only £l3O, while at Christchurch the takings amounted to £l5O. Twenty - five per cent of the gross proceeds goes to the Poverty Bay Association to meet expenses, and ten per cent to tho Now Zealand Association. A balance of about £350 will be distributed to the teams participating in proportion to their expenses, so that the cost of attending the tournament will bo considerably reduced.
