WOMEN ATHLETES.

ADMITTED TO MEN’S CLUBS

AVITH A VOICE IN CONTROL.

The question whether women members should be admitted to the Technical College Old Boys’ Athletic Club was discussed at the club’s annual meeting. From December 22 of last year women have been admitted as honorary members. Some opposition to the proposal was expressed at the meeting owing to the fact that it was desired to guard against turning the club into a purely social club. The chairman, Mr D. Arnott, said that the main reason for wanting to admit the women as members was that it was not considered that ihey would be strong enough numerically to start on their own. It was finally decided to admit the women as members and to give them representation on committee.
