TOKOMARU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOMARU, Sept. 16. Air S. Boote, from the north, is at present visiting his parents, Air and Airs A. Boote. Airs R. Waghorn and family returned from Wellington during the present past week. Air J. R. Whyte and Air J. Liggins returned lost week from a holiday trip to Auckland. On Friday evening the local hall was transformed to a 6cene of much merrymaking when the Tennis Club held their fancy dress dance in aid of the club’s funds. The hall was charmingly decorated ■with blue and gold streamers and Chinese lanterns. The music was supplied by a fine orchestra and extras were played by Aiiss J. Bree. The successful competitors in fancy dress were Miss N. Batcheiar (Gipsy), and Mr John Young (Cowboy). The Monte Carlo dance was won by Air and Mrs Walker, and the spot one-step by Mr D. Dalziel and Aiiss It. Whitrow. The duties of Al.C.’s were carried out by Alessrs 11. Peach and A. Williams. The function came to a close in the early hours of tho morning. Some of the costumes worn by those present were: Aiiss B. Alackenzie, Dash of Scotch; Aiiss V. Alorgan, Art Union; Mrs 11. Parr, Pantaloon; Miss Jean Boote, Gipsy; Miss I. Mason, Spanish Dancer; Aiiss L. Irvin, Irish Colleen: Aiiss N. Batcheiar, Gipsy; Aiiss Olive Crow, Shepherdess; Aiiss 11. Glovn, Basket-ball Girl; Aiiss D. Stokes, Gipsy Dancer; Air J. Young, Cowboy; Air J. Pratt, Indian; Air N. Pratt, Jockey. At the recent Trinity College of Alusic examination conducted in Palmerston North by Air C. Egcrton Lowe, of London, Aiiss K. Williams, L.T.C.L., presented four pupils, all lieing successful. They were Alis 6 Ivy Williams (higher local). Miss D. Lampard (senior), Miss J. Kelly and Miss Claire Luinpard (junior).
