COMPENSATION CLAIM. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND Sept. 17. Joseph Eronan, aged 68 years, on November 26 last was attacked at Paeroa by an Australian labourer who knocked him down in the street and battered him severely, his injuries including four broken ribs. Mr Brenan made a claim for compensation in the Supreme Court to-day. Mr Brenan’s assailant is in a mental hospital and the Public Trustee asked that from his estate of £4BO sufficient should be left for the man’s maintenance. His Honour Sir Alexander Herdman gave judgment for £2OO and made an order that the residue of the estate remain in the hands of the Public Trustee for the lunatic’s maintenance.
