BOGUS LAND SEEKERS.
OPERATIONS IN THE NORTH
(By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 16.
A number of bogus land seekers have visited the Wliangamata district recently. During the last week two or three different people have called on local settlers stating that they are looking for land or are prepared to invest capital on behalf of others. They have taken up a considerable amount of time and have had meals and accommodation provided. After accepting the hospitality they have asked for a loan of a few pounds. It is evident that these persons are touring the country under the guise of land seekers.
