BRANCH FORAIED AT RAN GIWAHIA.
Despite much inclement weather, there was a largo attendance at the Methodist Church, Rangiwahia on Monday afternoon. Itev. AV. AVilson presided and invited Mrs Porter (organising secretary of the British and Eoreign Bible Society, from Wellington) to address the gathering. Ihe speaker outlined the aims and objects of the society and the wonderful growth in translations and distribution of copies since its inception. The number of languages the Scriptures are out in total 886 of which the Bible Society is responsible for 018; truly a remarkable philological achievement of the missionaries and translators. The number of copies of the Scriptures issued since the foundation of the society was 897,237,795; a truly wonderful record. The work of the colporteurs was also described and various other aspects of the work. It was decided to form a branch, the following officers being elected: President, Mrs Laurie Rose; vicepresidents, Mesdames Moss and AVilson; secretary, Mrs Len Rose;.collectors, Misses Connie Martin, Lucy Boshier; Mangarima, Miss Eva Carey; Ruahine, Mrs Billinghurst. Much pleasure was expressed that Ruahine was represented. Mrs Porter stated that she had wanted to start a branch at Rangiwahia for years, but only through the valuable help of the Rev. W. AVilson had it been possible now and 6he expressed much appreciation of the fine work done in connection with the meeting and thanked ail present for coming through such wet and stormy weather. All present were keen and enthusiastic. The singing of the Doxology brought a very successfid meeting to a close.
