MANAWATU SPRING SHOW.

Once again the time comes when the premier stock show of the Dominion is held, and after over 40 years none can dispute the claim of . the Manawatu and West Coast A and P. Association to the title. No association has the same excellent accommodation for stock nor the same facilities for handling it, and after all this is what the farmer looks for when he is considering sending his pedigree animals away for exhibition. A perusal of the prize list gives one some idea of the magnitude of the association. The prize money in cash totals over £IBOO, while in addition to that there are 40 cups valued at £I3OO, besides 50 goffi medals distributed among the various sections. A feature of-the Spring Show this year will bo a steer riding competition which should cause a great deal of excitement and not a little amusement with the public, while tho prize money is substantial enough to cause many of the younger generation to emulate the antics of Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson, Ihe first prize in this class is £2O, while there are four other cash prizes ranging down to £2. Exhibition space at this show has a value which should make tho manufacturer oonsider sending in un • application. In the large halls there is available 170,000 square feet, and the charge for this space is small enough to ensure that the exhibitor cannot fail to make good on it. The date for tho closing of entries in all sections is getting closer, and those who have not yet received their schedules should see to it at once. There are classes for home industries, needlework, photography, pedigree stock and school work. Write to the secretary, Air W. T. Penny, P.O. Box 85, Palmerston North, for a schedule. Watch this paper closely for particulars of any new feature. The evening amusements will be advertised shortly.
