OTAKI, Sept. 16.
An aeroplane, going north, flew over Otaki during the Governor-General’s speech on Friday afternoon. Archbishop O’Shea will conduct confirmation services at the Otaki Catholic Church on Sunday next. The Otaki Boy Scouts will celebrate their first birthday on Friday, when Sir Alfred Robin will be present. The Waikanae Football Club’s dance on Friday night was a great success, being splendidly attended. The arrangements wero first-class, due to an able secretary (Mr Mather) and a fine committee. Owing to a motor collision near Paremata Mrs Coles, of Otaki, and Mrs Martin, of Paraparaumu, were injured, ihe former having a thigh broken, while Mrs Martin received facial injuries. _ Mrs Coles is now in the Wellington Hospital. A car driven by Mr Hardic, of Otaki, who was accompanied by Mr Quintcll, capsized at To Horo last night, the accident being caused through the driver being dazzled by the lights of an approaching car. Mr Hardie, in swerving, went over an embankment, but luckily only slight damage was' done. While Mr N. Lima and a party of young pleasure-seekers wore motoring to the Waikanae danco they met Mr Port’s ear and in pulling to one side ran up the embankment near the T'e Horo overhead bridge and capsized. Tho occupants of the car wero all thrown to the road. Two of tho party had to seek medical aid. One had to have stitches inserted in his head, and the other to have stitches in his arm. The ear, owned by Mr Matonga Baker, was damaged to the extent of about £B.
